Is it time to renew your registration? Let’s suppose that your current registration expires at the end of the month, but you are at your wit’s end with how to renew it. Under normal circumstances, you could just go to the nearest MVA branch and do it in person, but that isn’t going to be the case for quite some time. So what are some other options that Marylanders can take advantage of in the meantime? Please note that these options are available to you even when there isn’t a public health crisis ongoing.
Online and Over the Phone
Perhaps the easiest way to complete the registration process is to do it online. When you do this, you will need to have the title and license plate numbers ready. You can also only do this if the name, address, insurance, and vehicle information on the registration renewal notice hasn’t changed since the original issue date of the first registration. Please have a credit card ready when you fill out the information. Doing it over the phone is also a possibility, especially for those users who aren’t comfortable with navigating the websites on a computer. Call the following number: 1-800-768-7000. Be sure to have a credit card ready if you choose to use this option.
Via Mail
Renewing your registration via mail is also another viable option. Look at the information on the registration renewal notice and make any necessary changes or corrections in the gray area, and then sign the notice. If the vehicle is used for business purposes and owned by a company, then whoever signs must also list their official capacity within the company. This is where the Power of Attorney will enter the picture if you are not a company official or do not own the vehicle that you are re-registering.
